Questions
If you have any questions about your pre-admission testing, please call 740-522-7800 and ask for the Pre-Admission Testing Department for more information.
Pre-Adminssion Testing
Pre-admission Testing (PAT) is done prior to scheduled procedures, including surgery, or scheduled admissions to the hospital. Your doctor will provide you with written orders for any pre-admission tests. All preadmission tests are done 14 to 21 days prior to surgery or scheduled admission.
MCN Offers The Following Pre-Admission Tests:
- History and Physical Exam
- EKG
- Pulmonary Function Testing
- Laboratory blood work
- X-rays
Scheduling An Appointment
For your convenience, lab work, EKGs and X-rays are available to you on a walk-in basis. Appointments must be scheduled for your history and physical exam, and pulmonary function testing. You can choose to have your required tests done at the same time as your scheduled physician visit or at different times to accommodate your schedule.
Your physician’s office or one of our staff members will work with you to schedule your PAT appointment.
What To Expect
When you arrive at the MCN for PAT testing, please enter through the doors marked Outpatient Services – Imaging and Lab. Allow up to 1 hour for walk-in appointments and 2 hours for your scheduled PAT visit.
During your PAT appointment, our Clinical Staff will obtain your health history, perform a physical examination, and an anesthesia assessment. Lab testing, an EKG, and/or an X-ray may be required based on your individual needs in preparation for your surgery. You will then be seen by MCN hospitalist, a physician specializing in hospital medicine. The hospitalist will review your tests and make sure you are ready for your upcoming surgery.
Please make a list of the medications that you are taking (including over-the-counter medications and herbal medicines), and their dosages, as well as any allergies, and bring it with you to your appointment. Please also bring this list with you on your day of surgery. Your regular medications may be taken on the day of your PAT visit.
* Exception: diabetic patients who are fasting should delay taking medication until after their appointment.
Patients To Be Treated At Other Hospitals
Pre-admission testing can be arranged at MCN for surgery or admission to other medical facilities. You must bring physician orders for these tests.
