Medical Center of Newark will celebrate National Hospital Week from May 6 through May 12 along with hospitals in all 50 states.
The first National Hospital Day was held on Florence Nightingale's birthday, on May 12, 1921. In 1953 the event expanded to an entire week.
The commemorative celebration serves as a reminder that hospitals are foundations of the communities that built them and nurture them, and that hospitals serve people in every community from all walks of life.
